Now I’m going to show you how to turn translate those trends into offers.

In January, Gartner published its 20626 future of work trends. Corporate HR leaders read it to figure out what’s about to land on their plate. You should read it for a different reason.

It’s a list of the nine problems corporations are about to spend money trying to solve. Which means it’s a list of the nine problems you should be pitching against.

If you speak, train, coach, consult, or advise — and your buyer is a corporate client — this report is the most useful document you’ll read this quarter. Here’s how to use it.

Subscribe now

The Shift You Need to Understand First

The Gartner research surfaces a hard number: fewer than 1% of layoffs in the first half of 2025 were tied to actual AI productivity gains. Companies cut anyway. Now they are sitting in the aftermath — skills gaps, morale problems, “workslop” clogging every deliverable, and a workforce whose trust in leadership has eroded.

CHROs are the ones holding the bag. And they have budget.

That budget is moving toward three imperatives Gartner names explicitly: navigating the human-machine era, mitigating new threats, and seizing hidden opportunities. Every one of those imperatives is a door you can walk through.

The Nine Trends, Translated Into Offers

1. Layoffs ran ahead of reality. Companies cut talent they now need back. Pitch: change management, rehire strategy, skills re-mapping, leadership coaching for managers rebuilding teams they hollowed out.

2. Culture dissonance under performance pressure. Stated values don’t match daily reality. Employees are checked out but staying. Pitch: culture assessments, values-to-behavior alignment work, executive communication training, manager enablement programs.

3. AI’s hidden cost is mental fitness. Workers are stressed, burned out, and showing signs of cognitive decline from always-on AI adoption. Pitch: wellbeing keynotes, psychological safety trainings, manager workshops on spotting disordered AI use, resilience programs.

4. Workslop is the top productivity drain. Fast, poor-quality AI output is creating more work, not less. Pitch: AI literacy training, judgment and discernment workshops, quality frameworks, “how to edit AI” skill-building for teams.

5. Candidate fraud is reversing the hiring arms race. AI-assisted applications make it harder to identify real talent. Pitch: interview redesign, assessment strategy, hiring manager training, behavioral interviewing certifications.

6. Corporate espionage is moving onto payrolls. Insider threat is now behavioral, not just technical. Pitch: trust and integrity training, ethics programs, manager coaching on early warning signs, culture audits.

7. Tech-to-trades career pivots are accelerating. Digital workers are leaving for skilled trades. Pitch: retention strategy, career development frameworks, reskilling program design, workforce planning consulting.

8. Process pros, not tech prodigies, unlock AI value. Companies need people who understand workflows, not just tools. Pitch: process redesign consulting, operational excellence training, change leadership programs, AI implementation advisory.

9. Employees want to get paid for training their digital doppelgangers. IP, consent, and compensation questions are landing on HR desks. Pitch: policy development, ethics frameworks, employee agreement redesign, executive briefings on the compensation conversation coming for them.

Subscribe now

How to Actually Pitch This

Do not walk in quoting Gartner at them. They’ve read it. Half their executive team has already forwarded it.

Walk in with a point of view on one of these nine problems and evidence that you have solved it before. That’s the pitch. “I saw the Gartner trends. Here’s the one I work on. Here’s what I’ve built for companies in your position. Here’s what the first ninety days together would look like.”

The report gives you permission to start the conversation. Your expertise is what closes it.

What to Do This Week

Pick two of the nine trends that align with your actual body of work. Not the ones that sound interesting. The ones where you have receipts — case studies, client outcomes, frameworks you have already used.

Rewrite your one-sheet, your LinkedIn headline, and your outreach template to name one of those two problems explicitly. Use their language, not yours. CHROs are not searching for “transformational keynotes.” They are searching for solutions to workslop, culture dissonance, and mental fitness erosion.

Let’s go!

The budget is being spent. The question is whether it will be spent with you.

Most people will read the report and keep doing what they’ve been doing.

A smaller group will reposition themselves against what companies are already trying to solve.

That’s the difference.

Octagon Haus is where that second group operates.

If that’s how you intend to move, you can Request an Invitation.

About the Author:

Kelly Charles-Collins is a founder, former trial attorney and law firm partner, and speaker known for bringing clarity, conviction, and strategic insight to conversations that matter. in strategy meetings.

The latest from Gartner is no different.

But here’s what I want you to understand:

The value is not in knowing the trends.

The value is in knowing how to position yourself because of them.

What Corporations Are Quietly Or Not so Quietly Dealing With Right Now

Organizations are navigating:

Teams that are disengaged and harder to retain

Managers who were promoted but never developed

A workforce that wants flexibility, meaning, and voice

Constant change that leaders are expected to manage in real time

AI reshaping roles faster than people can adapt

This isn’t theoretical.

This is what’s showing up in boardrooms, team Still Pitching Topics

“I speak on leadership.”
“I train on communication.”
“I coach on mindset.”

That’s where the disconnect is.

Because companies are not looking for a topic.

They are looking for someone who can step into what they are already dealing with and help them move through it.

The Shift That Changes Everything

When you understand trends like these, your job is not to repeat them.

Your job is to translate them into:

A problem you solve

A result you create

A reason to bring you in

That’s positioning.

And that’s what gets you paid.

What This Looks Like in Real Time

Let’s take what companies are facing and turn it into how you show up.

Managers Are Struggling to Lead

You don’t say:
“I speak on leadership.”

You say:
“I develop leaders who can lead in high-pressure, constantly changing environments—so your teams perform and stay.”

Employees Want More Than a Paycheck

You don’t say:
“I speak on engagement.”

You say:
“I help organizations create environments where their top talent wants to stay, contribute, and grow.”

AI Is Creating Uncertainty

You don’t say:
“I talk about innovation.”

You say:
“I equip your teams to think, communicate, and lead in an AI-driven workplace so they stay relevant and effective.”

Culture Feels Disconnected

You don’t say:
“I teach communication.”

You say:
“I help your teams communicate and collaborate across roles, generations, and work environments—so work actually works again.”

This Is Where Most People Stay Stuck

They think their expertise is the differentiator.

It’s not.

There are thousands of people who can speak on leadership, communication, or mindset.

What separates you is:

How clearly you define the problem

How directly you connect to what companies are experiencing right now

How confidently you articulate the result

<p class="button-wrapper" the Asset

The report is public.

Anyone can quote it.

What they can’t do is speak from your:

Experience

Pattern recognition

Point of view

That’s what makes someone say:

“We need her in this room.”

If You’re Building an Expertise-Driven Business, Read This Twice

Because this is where the shift happens.

You stop asking:

“What should I speak about?”

And you start answering:

“What are organizations already trying to solve that I am uniquely positioned to address?”

You must learn to speak “bottom line language.”

This Is the Type of Intelligence We Operate From Inside Octagon Haus

Not just to refine how you position your expertise, but to expand how you see, access, and move within the market.

Because when you understand what organizations are navigating at this level, you don’t just show up differently.

You build differently.
You pitch differently.
You operate like a business that belongs in the room.

Octagon Haus is designed for women who are building businesses around their expertise and expect to be paid accordingly.

If you’re ready to move at that level, Request an Invitation.

Tomorrow, speaking engagements can be incredibly rewarding, but there are common pitfalls that can stall your progress, no matter how talented or experienced you are.

Whether you’re eager to land your first big contract or looking to scale your existing business, steering clear of these errors will put you miles ahead of the competition.

Here are three mistakes you must avoid and strategies for what to do instead.

Subscribe now

Mistake 1: Random Networking

Why it’s a problem:
Connecting with anyone and everyone in hopes of stumbling into opportunities leads to wasted effort, frustration, and very few results. Without a clear sense of who you’re trying to reach and where they make decisions, you’re just spinning your wheels.

How to avoid it:
Get laser-focused on your Dream 100—the decision-makers and referral partners most likely to need your expertise. Intentional, strategic targeting is far more productive than casting a wide net.

Mistake 2: Immediate Pitching

Why it’s a problem:
Jumping straight from connection to sales pitch can be a huge turn-off. Corporate buyers want to work with those they know, like, and trust, not people who launch into a pitch without building any rapport.

How to avoid it:
Spend time cultivating the relationship before pitching. Engage meaningfully. Show up regularly and add value so, when you do make your ask, it feels like the next logical step, not an intrusion.

Mistake 3: Single Opportunity Obsession

Why it’s a problem:
Falling in love with a single hot lead—or a handful—and neglecting to keep your outreach and pipeline strong is risky. Deals fall through, timelines stretch, and if you have all your eggs in one basket, your revenue suffers.

How to avoid it:
Adopt a consistent outreach routine. Make connecting, cultivating, and pitching part of your weekly workflow. This way, a “no” or a stalled deal won’t throw off your momentum or business goals.

Subscribe now

Stay focused, be patient with your relationship-building, and always keep your pipeline moving. Technology 🙄

When it comes to building a successful expertise-based business, many professionals find themselves tangled in the misconception that branding and positioning are one and the same. In reality, positioning is the essential foundation upon which branding is built—and without it, your efforts may never yield the results (or revenue) you desire.

As a retired trial attorney turned award-winning speaker and strategic advisor, I’ve worked with countless highly-credentialed women transitioning out of corporate life into entrepreneurship. Time and again, the same issue arises: they confuse the outward visuals of branding (colors, logos, fonts) with the deep, internal strategy of positioning.

In the video above, I break down the eight key layers of positioning, and explore why getting these right is non-negotiable for Expertpreneurs™️- those who make money with their mind.

Subscribe now

Key Insights

1. Branding Follows Positioning, Not the Other Way Around

Many are tempted to jump straight into the visual side of branding. But true branding is the outward expression of your positioning. It should flow from a clear understanding of your unique value, audience, and goals. Start by architecting your positioning, then let your brand’s visuals emerge organically from that solid foundation.

2. The 8 Layers of Positioning: A Structured Framework

Think of positioning as peeling back the layers of an onion to uncover your authentic business core. Watch the video to learn about each layer. Don’t miss layers 7 and 8.

3. Depth Over Generalization

Resist the urge to be a generalist. The most impactful Expertpreneurs™️go deep, serving only the audiences and solving only the problems for which they have unmatched expertise and genuine passion. This leads to market differentiation and stronger demand.

4. Profit Lies in the ‘Why’

Money doesn’t come just from being good at what you do. It comes from connecting your deep-rooted reason for serving with your audience’s real-world needs. Your personal “why” fuels your persistence and credibility, but your audience’s “why” is where they commit financially.

5. Transformation Requires Action, Not Just Knowledge

Understanding these layers is a crucial first step, but true transformation comes from doing the work to answer each question thoughtfully and honestly. It’s this clarity and alignment that will set you up to command premium rates, close lucrative corporate contracts, and sustain long-term business success.

Ready to Level Up Your Positioning?

If you’re ready to turn your expertise into profit and finally stop spinning your wheels, it’s time to dive deep into your positioning. This issue goes far deeper than systemic barriers. The call for change echoes from within: undervaluing your expertise leads to complicity in your own financial erasure.

And one of the ways you unconsciously undervalue is using your corporate salary as a benchmark. (PS and BTW - I discuss this and more in my Stop Undervaluing, Start Profiting Masterclass.)

But here’s the uncomfortable truth:

pricing your expertise based on hours worked or corporate salary benchmarks is sabotaging your profits and your power.

Most women experts, especially those leaving corporate, fall into the trap of treating their time like a commodity. But in the entrepreneurial world, time isn’t what companies are actually buying. They’re investing in results, transformation, and bottom-line impact.

Think about it: organizations don’t spend thousands on external experts because they want a one-hour training. They put real money on the table when they believe you can help them solve high-cost problems, accelerate their results, or prevent expensive mistakes.

If your price tag feels shockingly high compared to your old “salary math,” good. Anything less means you’re treating your expertise like a commodity, not the transformational asset it truly is.

Subscribe now

Here’s how to break this cycle and price like a profit centered expert:

✨ Start with the profit you want. Reverse-engineer your revenue goal—not from “how much do I want to make” but “what does it cost to run my business and life, and what profit margin do I require?”

✨ Anchor your offers in the impact you deliver. Identify the headaches, costs, and risks your work helps alleviate for decision-makers, not just your credentials or time investment.

✨ Ditch the guilt and comparison pricing. What someone else charges is irrelevant. What matters? What your unique expertise is worth to your ideal buyer.

The shift isn’t just financial. It’s psychological.

When you move from “I charge for my time” to “I price for the transformation I create,” you position yourself as a must-have strategic investment, not a line item to be negotiated down.

Ready to flip your pricing model and profit on your terms?

Click here and I’ll send you the replay of my Stop Undervaluing, Start Profiting masterclass.

Prefer to attend the masterclass live? Register here for the next one.

About the Author:

Kelly Charles-Collins is Founder of Speaker Moguls and the creator of Speaking Industry Xpo a/k/a THE 6. She teaches speakers, trainers, coaches, and consultants to turn their expertise into an enterprise—without underpricing or undervaluing their work. Taking place in Atlanta from March 16-18, 2026, this event is more than a conference; it’s a driving force to bridge the revenue gap for women business owners and build profitable, mature enterprises.

Here’s why this event, and partnership with its movement, is a must for those seeking meaningful impact and access to an elite audience.

THE 6 is bringing together at least 100 accomplished women, most with advanced degrees and extensive experience spanning industries like banking, finance, legal, healthcare, education, and more. These Expertpreneurs™️aren’t just speakers or trainers. They’re highly visible leaders who use their expertise to drive economic growth.

Why THE 6 Matters

Women experts—those who leverage advanced degrees, professional credentials, and years of experience—face a significant economic disparity.

Black women, in particular, start businesses at the highest rate of any demographic, but fewer than 3% sustain beyond five years. The average revenue for Black women-owned businesses hovers around $47,300, compared to $192,600 for all women-owned businesses.

Closing these gaps stands to add billions to the U.S. economy: $361.2 billion if Black women matched the average revenue of white women, and up to $1.5 trillion if they hit parity with men-owned businesses.

THE 6 aims to amplify, affirm, and elevate the voices and businesses of women experts through resources, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. Participants hail from fields like banking, finance, legal, healthcare, education, television, and hospitality, equipped with MBAs, PhDs, JDs, and certifications.

What Happens at THE 6

Over two or three days, attendees will engage in sessions focused on business strategy, a speaker showcase, and an expo hall offering direct access to brands committed to supporting accomplished women. Sponsors already onboard include HighLevel, Verizon Business, and Wynter Law Practice, recognizing the value and opportunity present.

Why Partner?

Sponsors and partners play a pivotal role in providing women experts with the resources, relationships, and social capital needed to thrive.

Partnership transcends a transactional relationship. Unlike fleeting digital campaigns, THE 6 allows brands three days of immersive, face-to-face engagement with highly credentialed, value-driven women who are known to invest in excellence. This is a premium opportunity to expand your brand’s reach and establish authentic connections with a powerful collective of highly visible women whose combined audience exceeds half a million.

Benefits include new lead generation, heightened brand awareness, and potential custom activations. Sponsorship levels are flexible, from general packages ($5,000–$15,000) to dedicated opportunities (lounge, showcase, mastermind, swag, wellness), all detailed at speakingindustryexpo.com.

Collaborating with THE 6 means supporting the transformation of talented professionals into profitable business owners. Brands partner through a consultative approach, aligning on objectives, audience targeting, and engagement strategies.

Download Sponsor Deck

Key Takeaways

Women Expertpreneurs™️represent untapped economic impact for the U.S.

Black women entrepreneurs drive innovation but face steep challenges in business longevity and revenue.

Strategic partnership helps bridge these gaps—providing resources, social capital, and sustained support.

THE 6 event offers concentrated, valuable access to a highly influential audience.

The Burning Question …

Are you ready to align your brand with the future of the expert economy?

Join THE 6 Speaking Industry Xpo as a sponsor or partner to help accomplished women experts thrive. It was about transformation, reclaiming identity, and creating impact well beyond the walls of her profession.

Like many Black women professionals, Sharonda found herself at the crossroads after years in a high-pressure healthcare career, post-pandemic. She realized she was “tapped out,” craving a greater reach and deeper purpose than the daily grind offered. The journey began with admitting she was ready for something new, and opening her mind to fresh possibilities.

Subscribe now

Takeaway #1: Growth Starts With Openness

When Sharonda allowed herself to seek new avenues, she discovered inspiring entrepreneurs who looked like her and were thriving in their own lanes. These relationships didn’t just spark ideas; they built confidence to speak up and seek more.

Sharonda’s voice—once called “motor mouth” by teachers—became her superpower. Working with Kelly, she learned it was okay to own her uniqueness. Her moniker “Sista RN” wasn’t something to hide, but a banner to wave. If a room couldn’t accept Sista RN, it wasn’t her room and this mindset became a springboard.

Takeaway #2: Authenticity Is a Gateway, Not a Barrier

Sharonda’s story revealed that owning the fullness of her identity unlocked the right opportunities. “If you can’t accept Sister RN, then you don’t deserve my brain,” she declared. Genuine self-branding let her walk into rooms as herself, not as someone she felt pressured to be.

The pivotal shift happened through developing her signature talk with Kelly. It was more than a speech. It was a strategic, repeatable framework that allowed her to scale her impact and income. Her expertise became both her currency and her contribution, landing her stages in Dubai, Paris, and funding opportunities, all rooted in the methodology she crafted.

Takeaway #3: Your Expertise Is Exportable—With the Right Structure

Sharonda leveraged the her framework not just to speak but to build programs, secure grants, launch nonprofits, and consult. Rather than a one-time use, her framework gave her a toolkit to address pressing industry gaps, like “unauthorized arrivals” in emergency care—a concept she named, published, and has begun championing.

Throughout her journey, clarity and validation from Kelly and the expert community fueled Sharonda’s evolution. She moved from validating her value to standing in it, realizing her intellectual property was her most valuable asset.

Subscribe now

Takeaway #4: Iterate, Don’t Pivot—and Own Your Intellectual Property

Every stage of Sharonda’s journey layered on the last. She didn’t abandon old skills, but reimagined how they served her new direction—as a legal nurse consultant, a mentor, a speaker, and now a licensed agent offering financial education. The process taught her not just to dream, but to execute.

And perhaps the biggest lesson? Proximity is power.

Sharonda literally found her next level in rooms—and in the company—of Black women experts who saw her, affirmed her, and challenged her to step up. The collective energy wasn’t just inspiring; it was transformative.

Sharonda’s Journey in a Nutshell:

Be open to new beginnings.

Bring your real self everywhere you go.

Build frameworks to scale your impact.

Iterate, don’t pivot. Your past experience is an asset.

Value the power of community and accountability.

Her story is a blueprint for any expert—particularly Black women—looking to go from employee to expertpreneur, rewrite the narrative, and profit from their unique genius.

Watch the video to hear directly from Sharonda. You will be activated.

Ready to turn your expertise into an enterprise?

👉 Register for the FREE masterclass “Stop Undervaluing, Start Profiting” (January 15th):

👉 Be IN the room for the Speaking Industry Xpo (“THE 6”)—Atlanta, March 16th-18th:

Don’t wait for someone else to open doors for you. AI helps me find the actual point underneath the point. (ChatGPT & Claude)

4) I use AI to turn a “messy idea” into a clean positioning angle.
Not a slogan. A clear lane people can repeat. That’s when your marketing gets easier. (Mogul Operating System “MOS”)

5) I use AI to map the decision-maker lens.
What does a buyer care about? Risk, retention, performance, cost, culture. I make sure my message speaks that language. (Claude & ChatGPT)

6) I use AI for research and to analyze research, not rabbit holes.
When I need facts, trends, or industry context, I use AI to speed up the search. Yet, when stepping into entrepreneurship, it’s common to struggle with recognizing, claiming, and confidently communicating that same value.

The real disruption begins within.

Five Key Strategies for Black Women Experts

1. Know Your Expertise—and Stand In It

You don’t need more degrees or certifications to justify your value. Years managing teams, budgets, and complex projects in corporate spaces have already proven your capabilities. What’s essential now is recognizing your expertise as an asset class—a source of economic power that is just as valuable, if not more so, outside the corporate environment.

2. Shift From Activities to Outcomes

Entrepreneurial clients and partners aren’t interested in a list of responsibilities. They want results. Package your experience into outcome-driven offers that address real problems and deliver measurable transformation. Instead of presenting disconnected services, master the art of creating a suite of premium, solution-based offers that reflect your full value.

Subscribe now

3. Price and Position Yourself Properly

Underpricing is a silent epidemic for women experts. While systemic undervaluation is real, internalized beliefs often hold us back just as much. Use real data and market validation to set confident rates and avoid negotiating against yourself. Your compensation should match your expertise, and every client engagement should reflect that.

4. Build Social Capital Through Genuine Collaboration

Economic power doesn’t only come from what you know—it comes from who knows about it. Many Black women entrepreneurs lack the “insider” access that fuels rapid growth in other communities. Change this by intentionally building networks with like-minded experts. Collaborate, refer, amplify, and create joint ventures. Leverage each other’s credibility to accelerate growth and impact.

Get in the Right Room

5. Invest in Systems and Automation

Treat your business like a business, not a side hustle or a solo job. Setting up technology, automation, and scalable systems is not just efficient—it’s essential. This shift creates immense opportunities—especially for Expertpreneurs: those who use their knowledge, experience, and skills to build businesses, coach, and consult. Yet many discover that translating corporate experience into clear, marketable expertise poses unexpected challenges.

Unlocking your potential in today’s economy means making your expertise unmistakably clear to the people who need it most—your audience, your clients, your market.

Key Takeaways to Clarify and Position Your Expertise

1. Speak the Language of Your Market

Expertise gained in corporate settings often relies on jargon, acronyms, and high-level terminology. In entrepreneurial spaces, your clients seek solutions for their personal challenges, goals, and outcomes—using their words, not industry speak. To connect, describe what you do in simple terms, avoiding over-complication or specialized language. If you can sum up your value in a sentence understandable by a child, your ideal client will “get it” immediately.

Action: Write a one-line statement explaining who you serve, what you help them achieve, and what result they can expect. Make it concise and jargon-free.

2. Focus on Outcomes—Not Process

Markets pay for transformation, not busywork. When pitching your expertise, spotlight the outcomes your clients want. Instead of detailing the process, clearly state the problems you solve and the tangible results clients receive. This framing transforms you from just another service provider to the solution they’ve been seeking.

Action: Identify three core outcomes your clients desire and make those the centerpiece of your messaging.

Subscribe now

3. Bridge Your Skills to Their Aspirations

Many transitioning professionals struggle to package their corporate skills for entrepreneurial audiences. The bridge lies in deeply understanding your ideal client’s current pain points and future goals. Translate your expertise into language that resonates with their lived experience, speaking to the transformation they want.

Action: List common phrases or questions your clients use when describing their struggles. Frame your offers around these sentiments, showing that you “get” them and can guide them to their desired future.

4. Position Yourself as the Go-To Solution

Preparation and positioning separate those who land contracts and opportunities from those stuck waiting. Focus on developing clear offers, compelling pricing, and a personal brand that addresses real problems. Relentlessly refine your message so others can easily share and advocate for your work.

Action: Revisit your elevator pitch and ensure it highlights your unique value and the specific solution you provide.

Tools and Resources to Elevate Your Expertise

The business landscape for expertpreneurs is changing rapidly, with AI and technology offering transformational leverage. There are powerful resources designed to help you position, package, and price your expertise—giving you the framework, visibility, and actionable strategies to command five and six-figure contracts.

A few highlights:

Mogul Operating System: An AI-powered software with dedicated assistants for positioning, content creation, marketing, and revenue mapping.

Speaking Industry Xpo: An in-person, AI-wired incubator for expertpreneurs to implement real strategies and leave with business critical assets completed.

Relaunch Party: An energetic, free event featuring over $40,000 in prizes, where you’ll learn all about THE 6 and why you must be in the room.

Your Next Step

Preparation creates prosperity. Strategic positioning. While it’s tempting to focus on finding more opportunities or negotiating higher fees, the foundation for premium engagements starts long before you sit down at the negotiation table.

Let’s dive into how your positioning can make or break access to $25,000+ opportunities and what you can do to get on the right track.

Subscribe now

The Foundation: What is Positioning?

Before diving into the common mistakes, it’s essential to clearly define positioning. Positioning is the strategic internal work that shapes how you and your expertise are seen in the market.

Consider it your internal GPS: a mix of who you are now, who you want to become, who you serve, the unique problems you solve, the distinct way you solve them, and the impact you aim to create.

Branding, on the other hand, is the external expression of that positioning—your logo, colors, voice, messaging, and customer experience. Think of positioning as the blueprint and branding as the finished structure.

The 3 Positioning Mistakes Blocking High-Paid Opportunities

So, what are the 3 mistakes:

1. Generic Expert Positioning

Describing yourself as a “keynote speaker on leadership” or a “sales trainer” puts you in a crowded sea of professionals. Generic positioning buries your uniqueness and makes it almost impossible for clients to immediately see your value.

Powerful Positioning Example:

I help mid-sized manufacturing companies turn disengaged floor managers into leaders who reduce turnover by 40%.

This approach instantly clarifies who you help, what the current challenge is, the transformation you deliver, and the demonstrable outcome.

Key Takeaway:
Clarity attracts clients. The more specific you are about who you serve, the problem you solve, and the transformation you deliver, the easier it becomes for premium clients to say “yes” at a higher price point.

2. Resume-Based Positioning

Listing “20+ years of experience, 500+ stages, TEDx speaker” or “Certified executive coach with Google and Amazon clients” focuses on your past—not what you’ll do for the client now. Clients don’t hire you for your resume; they hire you for the results you bring to their current challenges.

Solution-Focused Positioning Example:

I help high-potential directors break through the invisible ceiling and land VP roles within 18 months.

This speaks directly to the client’s aspirations, framing your expertise around tangible benefits.

Key Takeaway:
Shift your language from what you’ve done to what you empower clients to achieve. Speak in solution-focused terms that articulate the journey and transformation you deliver.

3. No Clear Path to Premium

Saying, “Let’s discuss your event needs and I’ll send a custom proposal,” or “I offer one-to-one coaching tailored to your goals,” leads to endless customization and unsustainable business practices. Lack of a signature, outcome-driven offer makes it difficult to communicate your value and justifies only basic rates.

Signature Offer Example:

The Conversion Keynote System: a 60-minute keynote, pre-event audience survey, and 30-day implementation toolkit—$25,000.

By packaging your expertise into clear, outcome-oriented offers, clients understand exactly what they’re investing in and why the price aligns with premium value.

Key Takeaway:
Design and clearly present signature offers that move clients from their current status quo to their desired transformation. This is how you create a “path to premium” for both you and your clients.

Subscribe now

Putting It All Together

A strong, strategic position sets the stage for everything else—pricing, packaging, and sustainable business growth. The difference between a $500 engagement and a $25,000 contract is rarely about talent or experience. It’s about the clarity and power of your positioning.

Ready to master your positioning, build signature offers, and command five- and six-figure contracts?

Join the ‘Positioned for Profit’ virtual intensive, a hands-on, three-day event designed to help you nail your positioning, refine your content strategy, and develop a revenue roadmap. You’ll also discover how to leverage tailored AI tools to streamline your processes.

Your next $25,000+ opportunity starts with a single decision. Powerful & profitable positioning.

Act Now:
Secure your spot at Positioned for Profit before prices increase. Payment plans and bundled deals are available for those ready to invest in their premium future.

Takeaway Recap:

Get hyper-specific with who you help and how.

Ditch the resume—highlight the solutions and transformations you provide.

Develop signature offers that command premium rates.

Position yourself to command higher fees, attract ideal clients, and deliver maximum impact. It’s self-respect, time you’ll never get back, and delayed progress for your business and legacy.

What Holds Experts Back from Charging High-Ticket Rates?

Limiting beliefs:

“No one will pay me that much.”

“I need more experience, degrees, or a bigger following.”

“My expertise isn’t valuable enough.”

Misconceptions:

High-ticket is only for celebrities or influencers.

You must be “booked and busy” first.

You need to give away a lot to justify your price.

Objections—Yours and Theirs:

“Are you ready for high ticket?”

“What if they say the price is too high or they’re not ready?”

“Will a nonprofit or small organization pay?”

If you recognize yourself in any of these, know that people have already paid you high-ticket, either in corporate roles, lump sums for knowledge, or even through investments you’ve made in your own growth. Premium, Not Plenty

Your clients are looking for solutions and transformation, not the longest features list. Overstuffing offers to “justify the price” usually comes from your own self-doubt, not your client’s needs.

2. Traditional networking, think exchanging business cards in crowded rooms, often feels draining and unproductive. I hate it.

Instead of chasing arbitrary connections, imagine intentionally building partnerships and communities that accelerate your opportunities, amplify your expertise, and bring you closer to your goals.

This powerful shift, using relationships as your business growth engine, can help you bypass years of solo struggle and open doors you never thought possible. Here’s how to harness strategic relationships for exponential growth, gleaned from real-world expertise and actionable advice.

Ditch Networking, Build Partnerships

The old-school method of collecting contacts isn’t just tedious; it rarely generates real results. Instead, focus on quality over quantity.

Identify spaces where your ideal clients, partners, and power brokers gather. Curate your presence. You don’t need access to everyone, just to the right people.

Be strategic about events. Opt for client-rich conferences, targeted masterminds, and invite-only gatherings.

Value trumps volume. It’s better to know five power players than 50 random contacts.

Curate your connections. Not everyone should have access to you, and vice versa.

High-Leverage Partnerships Beat Solo Effort

Solo effort has a ceiling. Partnerships unlock new audiences, lucrative contracts, and stages you’d spend years hustling for on your own. Just one strategic relationship can bring game-changing results.

Look to industry leaders—when gurus like Alex Hormozi or Tony Robbins launch something massive, they leverage networks and relationships. They seek collaboration, not competition, and encourage bundled offers, joint events, and cross-promotion. Power grows in proximity.

Takeaway:

Don’t grind alone. Seek out collaborators: influencers, connectors, and decision-makers who can serve as gateways to larger opportunities. One partnership can open dozens of doors.

Subscribe now

Work the Room with Intention

Forget business card bingo. Become someone people remember. Here’s how:

Lead with value. Offer introductions, insights, or resources before you ask for anything.

Spotlight others. Amplify the wins and expertise of people around you.

Ask better questions. Instead of “What do you do?”, try “What’s your top priority this quarter?” or “How can I support your mission?”

Actively listen. Look for pain points and brainstorm ways to genuinely help.

Follow up. Most people don’t. If you do, you’ll stand out and build lasting connections.

In-Person Connections Win Every Time

Online exchanges only go so far. Real magic happens in person—at dinners, in the lobby, during the after-hours hangouts. These are the moments where trust is built and collaborations are sparked.

Accelerate connection. One face-to-face can achieve more than months of virtual coffee chats.

Seize the moment. If you feel a spark, invite someone to dinner or book a follow-up on the spot.

You don’t have to be an extrovert to thrive in these rooms.

Have a game plan: know whom you want to connect with, leverage structured parts of events, and use downtime (like breaks and meals) to make low-pressure introductions.

Create the Rooms You Want

You don’t always have to wait for someone else to invite you.

Build your own spaces. Host masterminds, roundtables, or industry events that attract the people you want to collaborate with.

By being the connector, you become a “point of access” in your industry.

Subscribe now

Convert Conversations to Revenue

Every meaningful conversation is a potential opportunity. Move from “nice to meet you” to “let’s do business together” through intentional follow-up.

Prepare resources, create bundled offers, or propose joint ventures tailored to the problems and priorities of your new connections.

Think beyond immediate sales. Sometimes, relationships provide expertise, referrals, or future contracts that are even more valuable.

Key Takeaways

Be strategic: Focus on quality relationships, targeted events, and curated connections.

Lead with value: Serve, offer, and spotlight before you ask.

Leverage in-person opportunities: Face-to-face accelerates trust, collaboration, and opportunity.

Act fast: Book follow-ups and propose partnerships while the connection is fresh.

Stay authentic: Introverts and ambiverts thrive by anchoring to smaller groups, asking smart questions, and being present on their own terms.

Build your own rooms: Create the community and opportunities you seek.

Ready to Join the Right Room?

Imagine if one new connection could dramatically shift your business trajectory.

What’s the cost of staying stuck versus the ROI of investing in environments where growth-minded leaders gather?

If you’re a speaker, trainer, coach, or consultant searching for your next high-leverage partnership or contract, consider stepping into a space designed to foster these relationships. Yet so many remain underpaid, or worse, not paid at all for their speaking and consulting.

What’s really at the heart of this persistent pay gap? And how can women bridge it, command their full value, and finally get paid what they deserve?

Let’s break it down.

The Invisible Line Between Corporate and Entrepreneurship

Women excelled in their corporate careers, earning six-figure salaries, hourly rates as professionals, or being billed out at premium rates. In those roles, there were often clear expectations about pay, and negotiating for more—even if not always easy—was a default part of the conversation.

But something happens during the leap into entrepreneurship.

Many women forget the value they brought into those corridors of power. In the speaking world, women accept unpaid breakout sessions or drastically low speaker fees, letting others assign their value, just as companies once did with their salaries.

It’s not a question of qualification. These are women with PhDs, JDs, MBAs, and long lists of accolades. The missing piece is learning to translate that “employer-assigned value” into unapologetic, self-assigned, market-ready value as a sought-after expert.

Subscribe now

Systemic Industry Issues and Our Complicity

A major factor is the conference and event industry’s broken payment system. Keynotes get premium fees, yet breakout session powerhouses—the very ones delivering deep expertise—are often the only ones in the room unpaid.

But there’s another layer …

Too many women experts inadvertently allow this system to thrive. Insufficient positioning, unclear value propositions, and lack of confidence to state (and defend) worthy fees keep too many in the cycle of underpayment.

The Internal & External Work of Positioning

Powerful, consistent positioning is the linchpin for commanding higher speaker fees. This means:

Internal clarity: Clearly understanding your true value, the transformation your knowledge brings, and the unique expertise you deliver.

External positioning: Articulating a clear message, developing your own intellectual property, and making sure event organizers see you as the thought leader, not just another expert on the roster.

Without intentional positioning, you become a commodity. Just another name to pick from.

Your Fees Should Reflect Your Professional Value

If a corporation once paid $100,000 or $200,000 for your knowledge over a year, your expertise as a speaker or consultant holds similar market value, just delivered in different ways.

What you charge should factor in:

The years invested in mastering your craft

The tangible outcomes and transformation you deliver

The industry standard, as well as authority pricing reserved for true experts

Pricing is often a made-up game in this industry. Yet, when you fully appreciate your background, results, and specialty, you can justify and confidently communicate fees in the five figures or more.

Subscribe now

Leveraging AI for Clarity and Confidence

That’s why I built my custom GPT Aliyah, the Authority Pricing Model Consultant. I want to make bridging the pricing and positioning gap now easier than ever. Stand out as a thought leader, not just another expert.

Price with confidence. Stop undercharging. Base your fees on years of experience, transformation offered, and real market value.

Say your rates boldly. Practice stating your fees and staying silent, knowing your value.

Stop accepting invisibility. Stop saying yes to unpaid or underpaid speaking. Industry change starts with your boundaries.

Leverage cutting-edge tools. AI can help reveal the true value of your expertise and support your pricing conversations.

Community matters. Surround yourself with other ambitious women. If you’re a woman expert, speaker, coach, or consultant who knows you’ve got the credentials, receipts, and track record, but you’re craving more clients, more contracts, and REAL recognition, then it’s time to stop blending in and finally stand out and get booked.

The Myth of Talent Alone: Why Experts Get Overlooked

A common misconception among experts, especially accomplished women, is that stacking up degrees and credentials is the ticket to greater visibility and high-paying contracts.

Myth: It isn’t your bio. Expertise alone does not guarantee opportunities. The market rarely rewards ‘safe.’

The overlooked truth? Most decision-makers aren’t looking for the most credentialed; they're looking for the most memorable. That means, if you want to move from being “admired” (likes, follows, polite applause) to “in-demand” (calls, contracts, and checks with commas), you must activate your audience’s desire, not just their admiration.

Subscribe now

Key #1: Unlock and Embrace Your Unfactor

Your unfactor is your unique, magnetic energy—the blend of stories, personality, and perspective that makes you a category of one. It’s not about being louder, it’s about being so authentically yourself that you are both unmistakable and unforgettable.

Reflect on this: What have you been muting because you fear it will repel people? Whether it’s your bold opinions, your sense of humor, or your distinctive way of presenting, your so-called “too much-ness” could be your golden ticket.

“Can you imagine the relief of being fully yourself?” When you show up unapologetically, you’ll attract the right opportunities and people and repel those who aren’t a fit (saving you wasted energy and time).

Action Step:
Identify the story or strong point of view you’ve been holding back. Are you willing and when will you commit to unleashing it into the world? The time is always now.

Key #2: Codify and Brand Your Intellectual Property (IP)

Being talented isn’t enough. To be booked and well-compensated, you must be known for something specific: a signature approach, framework, or methodology that only you offer. This is your signature Intellectual Property (IP).

Stop just being a “talented” person. Start being recognized for your “signature thinking.” Whether it’s a framework, process, or set of branded phrases, naming and packaging your IP makes you impossible to simply “swap out” for a cheaper or more available option.

Action Step:
Audit your expertise. What systems, processes, or unique ideas underlie your work? Give them a name, package them beautifully, and own your IP with pride.

Subscribe now

Key #3: Be Magnetic Where It Matters

It’s a noisy digital world, and trying to be everywhere at once is a recipe for burnout. The secret? “Be magnetic where it matters.” This means identifying the rooms, platforms, and decision-makers relevant to your goals and showing up boldly there.

Visibility isn’t about volume. It’s about intentional strategy. Focus on the channels that are frequented by your ideal buyers and where real buying decisions occur. Be visible and vocal where it matters—not just everywhere for the sake of it.

Action Step:
Map out your target audience’s journey. Are they on LinkedIn or other social platforms? Association events? Corporate conferences? That’s where you need to be, consistently and authentically.

Share Your Thoughts …

Have you been muting a part of yourself or your message out of fear it might repel people? Share what you’ve kept in the background that deserves to see the light.

Ready For More?

Join me in Atlanta, Nov 3-5, 2025 for the Speaking Industry Xpo a/k/a THE 6. Your expertise is.

I remember having a conversation with Tiffany Dufu (some of you may know here), as I was contemplating retiring from the practice of law. She asked me what was holding me back. I told her it was my fear of financial insecurity. Her response sticks with me to this day. She said, “working at this job is the most financially insecure you will ever be. With that being your only income, what happens if you lose your job?”

Can you say shooketh? 😂

Subscribe now

Little did I know that 1 year and 10 days after that conversation, I’d have to answer that question. [I share the story in the video.]

It’s easy to cling to what I call a “good, good check” and let the comforts of a steady paycheck lull you into a false sense of security.

But what happens the moment someone else decides that job is gone? That’s when you realize the real insurance isn’t the job itself. It’s the depth of your knowledge, the value of your experiences, and your ability to package those into new opportunities.

Degrees and accolades aren’t just resume fodder. They’re your freedom papers. The hard-won evidence of skills and perspectives that no employer can ever take away. The job might disappear, the client might dry up, and the industry might pivot overnight…but your capabilities stick with you everywhere.

Subscribe now

Instead of asking: “Is my role stable?” start asking: “How am I building a portfolio of skills and experiences no one can revoke?”

I’m so thankful I did this. While practicing law, I taught. I spoke. I got certified as a mediator and an arbitrator. I explored entrepreneurship my first go round. I was always building my skills and experience. (Now side note: the one thing I will say I wish had done a better job of is building long-term relationships.😞) I digress.

But, let’s be real … Some of the highest earners aren’t chained to a single job.

They’re doctors who turn their expertise into lucrative consulting gigs, lawyers and other professionals who trade in the grind of billable hours for high-impact speaking, teaching, or advisory roles. They’re not just doing. They’re leveraging what they know, not just what they do.

If you’re feeling the itch to move on—or even if you’re not—double down on expanding your mastery, multiplying your revenue streams, and building your reputation outside any office walls.

Subscribe now

Because at the end of the day, your freedom isn’t about comfort. But the moment you decide to step into entrepreneurship—whether as a speaker, consultant, or coach—the ground rules change. You’re no longer the “talent” bolstering the corporate machine. You’re the product. You’re the platform. Turning decades of making others money into a blueprint for building your own legacy. This means mapping out not what’s easy or familiar, but what actually aligns with your bigger vision.
