The receipts. The decades of results. You have sat in rooms where you were the most qualified person present and watched someone with half your experience get handed the contract, the stage, the rate, the trust.

This is not imposter syndrome. This is not a confidence problem. This is not something a vision board fixes.

This is the credibility tax and accomplished Black women experts have been paying it their entire careers.

Subscribe now

The credibility tax is the additional proof, the extra demonstration, the unrequested justification that the market demands from Black women before extending the trust it extends to others automatically.

It shows up in the discovery call where your rate gets questioned before your value gets explored. It shows up in the proposal where your credentials get scrutinized while a competitor’s get assumed. It shows up in the speaking inquiry where they ask for references your white male counterpart was never asked to provide.

The market has always required more from you. More proof. More patience. More demonstration. More “why” before it grants you “what.”

Here is what nobody has told you: that tax, as unjust as it is, has been training you for something.

You Have Been Doing This Longer Than You Know

There is research on how authority is won in high-stakes business decisions: proposals, pitches, competitive bids, enterprise sales. The conclusion is consistent: buyers do not select vendors who “claim” expertise. They select vendors who “demonstrate” judgment.

Not credentials. Judgment.

The difference is this: credentials tell a buyer what you have done. Judgment shows a buyer how you think. Credentials are backward-facing. Judgment is present and forward. Credentials can be listed by anyone. Judgment has to be shown in the room, on the page, in the conversation.

The experts who win, in proposals, in pitches, in competitive pursuit, are the ones who can explain “why” their approach matters, not just “what” their approach is. They point out things the buyer hadn’t considered. They surface implications the buyer didn’t see coming. They make the buyer feel, in the middle of the conversation, that they are already getting value, before any contract is signed.

That is the demonstration of expertise that earns trust.

And here is the part that should give you pause: Black accomplished women experts have been doing exactly this their entire careers. Not as a strategy. As a survival requirement.

Because claiming authority was never enough. The room never just took your word for it. So you learned, often without naming it, to lead with insight instead of credential. To show your thinking, not just your title. To make the value undeniable before anyone could question the price.

You have been demonstrating judgment under conditions that required it when others were simply allowed to assert it.

That is not a disadvantage. That is an edge. A significant, compounding, underleveraged edge that the standard authority playbook has never acknowledged because the standard authority playbook was written by and for people who never had to earn trust the hard way.

Subscribe now

The Problem Is Not Your Expertise. It’s How You’ve Been Packaging It.

Here is where the tax becomes a trap.

Because the market required you to demonstrate more, many Black women experts have internalized demonstration as humility. They over-explain not as strategy but as apology. They lead with “why” not because they know it positions them powerfully — but because they were conditioned to justify their presence before claiming their space.

The insight and the insecurity can look identical from the outside. But they land completely differently in the room.

When you demonstrate judgment from a place of authority, you are the expert helping the buyer see what they could not see without you. You are indispensable. You are the only one in the room with the insight that changes the outcome.

When you demonstrate judgment from a place of apology, you are auditioning. You are proving you belong. You are performing competence for an audience that has not yet granted you permission to simply “be” competent.

Same behavior. Completely different positioning. Completely different price.

The work — the real work — is not learning to demonstrate expertise. You already know how to do that. The work is repositioning that demonstration from a tax you pay to an authority you wield.

That shift changes everything: how you price, how you pitch, how you package your offers, how you show up on a stage, how you open a sales conversation, how you write a proposal, how you respond when your rate gets questioned.

You stop justifying. You start commanding.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Authority is not declared. It is demonstrated. And the demonstration happens in specifics.

When you are in a sales conversation and the buyer asks about your approach, the expert who claims authority says: “I have twenty years of experience in this space.” The expert who demonstrates authority says: “Most organizations tackle this by doing X and here is why that creates a problem they do not see until eighteen months in. What we do instead is Y, because it addresses the upstream issue, not just the symptom.”

Same expertise. One claims it. One shows it. One leaves the buyer nodding. One leaves the buyer leaning forward.

When you are writing a proposal and you describe your methodology, the expert who claims authority lists what they will do. The expert who demonstrates authority explains why those choices matter: what risks they mitigate, what outcomes they protect, what the buyer will be able to do differently because of the approach.

When you are on a stage and you are making a point, the expert who claims authority tells the audience what they know. The expert who demonstrates authority tells the audience something they did not know before they walked in the room and connects it directly to a decision the audience needs to make.

This is not a communication style. This is a positioning strategy. And it is the foundation of pricing power.

Buyers do not pay premium rates for what you know. They pay premium rates for what they can see you see — that they cannot see without you. When your insight is visible, your price becomes defensible. When your judgment is demonstrated, your rate becomes obvious.

The credibility tax has been forcing you to develop exactly this muscle. The question is whether you are deploying it strategically or spending it apologetically.

Share

The Authority You Have Already Earned

Black accomplished women experts are not behind. They are mis-packaged.

The expertise is there. The track record is there. The judgment, hard-won, pressure-tested, developed under conditions that required it, is absolutely there.

What is often missing is the architecture: the positioning that frames demonstrated expertise as authority rather than justification. The packaging that turns insight into a premium offer rather than a credential list. The pricing that reflects the value of judgment, not just the hours of execution.

That architecture is buildable. It does not require more credentials. It does not require more proof. It requires a strategic decision to stop paying a tax the market should never have levied and to start treating what you have built as exactly what it is.

An edge. A rare one. One the market will pay for, once you stop giving it away as evidence that you belong.

You have always belonged. It is time to price like it.

Ready to build the business behind your expertise?

Octagon Haus is a private economic network for Black women experts who monetize their intellectual capital. Now I’m going to show you how to turn translate those trends into offers.

In January, Gartner published its 20626 future of work trends. Corporate HR leaders read it to figure out what’s about to land on their plate. You should read it for a different reason.

It’s a list of the nine problems corporations are about to spend money trying to solve. Which means it’s a list of the nine problems you should be pitching against.

If you speak, train, coach, consult, or advise — and your buyer is a corporate client — this report is the most useful document you’ll read this quarter. Here’s how to use it.

Subscribe now

The Shift You Need to Understand First

The Gartner research surfaces a hard number: fewer than 1% of layoffs in the first half of 2025 were tied to actual AI productivity gains. Companies cut anyway. Now they are sitting in the aftermath — skills gaps, morale problems, “workslop” clogging every deliverable, and a workforce whose trust in leadership has eroded.

CHROs are the ones holding the bag. And they have budget.

That budget is moving toward three imperatives Gartner names explicitly: navigating the human-machine era, mitigating new threats, and seizing hidden opportunities. Every one of those imperatives is a door you can walk through.

The Nine Trends, Translated Into Offers

1. Layoffs ran ahead of reality. Companies cut talent they now need back. Pitch: change management, rehire strategy, skills re-mapping, leadership coaching for managers rebuilding teams they hollowed out.

2. Culture dissonance under performance pressure. Stated values don’t match daily reality. Employees are checked out but staying. Pitch: culture assessments, values-to-behavior alignment work, executive communication training, manager enablement programs.

3. AI’s hidden cost is mental fitness. Workers are stressed, burned out, and showing signs of cognitive decline from always-on AI adoption. Pitch: wellbeing keynotes, psychological safety trainings, manager workshops on spotting disordered AI use, resilience programs.

4. Workslop is the top productivity drain. Fast, poor-quality AI output is creating more work, not less. Pitch: AI literacy training, judgment and discernment workshops, quality frameworks, “how to edit AI” skill-building for teams.

5. Candidate fraud is reversing the hiring arms race. AI-assisted applications make it harder to identify real talent. Pitch: interview redesign, assessment strategy, hiring manager training, behavioral interviewing certifications.

6. Corporate espionage is moving onto payrolls. Insider threat is now behavioral, not just technical. Pitch: trust and integrity training, ethics programs, manager coaching on early warning signs, culture audits.

7. Tech-to-trades career pivots are accelerating. Digital workers are leaving for skilled trades. Pitch: retention strategy, career development frameworks, reskilling program design, workforce planning consulting.

8. Process pros, not tech prodigies, unlock AI value. Companies need people who understand workflows, not just tools. Pitch: process redesign consulting, operational excellence training, change leadership programs, AI implementation advisory.

9. Employees want to get paid for training their digital doppelgangers. IP, consent, and compensation questions are landing on HR desks. Pitch: policy development, ethics frameworks, employee agreement redesign, executive briefings on the compensation conversation coming for them.

Subscribe now

How to Actually Pitch This

Do not walk in quoting Gartner at them. They’ve read it. Half their executive team has already forwarded it.

Walk in with a point of view on one of these nine problems and evidence that you have solved it before. That’s the pitch. “I saw the Gartner trends. Here’s the one I work on. Here’s what I’ve built for companies in your position. Here’s what the first ninety days together would look like.”

The report gives you permission to start the conversation. Your expertise is what closes it.

What to Do This Week

Pick two of the nine trends that align with your actual body of work. Not the ones that sound interesting. The ones where you have receipts — case studies, client outcomes, frameworks you have already used.

Rewrite your one-sheet, your LinkedIn headline, and your outreach template to name one of those two problems explicitly. Use their language, not yours. CHROs are not searching for “transformational keynotes.” They are searching for solutions to workslop, culture dissonance, and mental fitness erosion.

Let’s go!

The budget is being spent. The question is whether it will be spent with you.

Most people will read the report and keep doing what they’ve been doing.

A smaller group will reposition themselves against what companies are already trying to solve.

That’s the difference.

Octagon Haus is where that second group operates.

If that’s how you intend to move, you can Request an Invitation.

About the Author:

Kelly Charles-Collins is a founder, former trial attorney and law firm partner, and speaker known for bringing clarity, conviction, and strategic insight to conversations that matter. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular — you know how it goes, you scroll, a face you haven’t thought about in a long time surfaces, and suddenly you’re curious. I clicked on her profile because I wanted to see how long she’d been at that company. The one she went to after we both left where we were.

Thirteen years and nine months. Wow!

I sat with that number for a minute. Thirteen years and nine months is not a job. It’s a career. It’s a mortgage. It’s a retirement account. It’s the kind of tenure people don’t get anymore — the kind of stability that shapes a whole life.

And I remembered exactly how she got there.

Years ago, a recruiter called me about a role I wanted. The kind of position where the work, the money, the trajectory all lined up, and I knew it the minute I read the description.

First interview went well. Better than well. They were gung-ho. They wanted to move me forward so fast that they flew me to New York to meet their outside counsel, an employment attorney the company had on retainer. The meeting was, everyone told me, a formality — the last box to check before the job was officially mine

I flew up. I sat across from him. And we started talking.

Here is the thing probably no one had fully thought through before they booked that flight: employment law is my language.

Not adjacent to my language.

Not something I’d studied once.

My language.

I had been an employment trial lawyer - an exceptional one - for over a decade at that point. So when he started walking me through what he did for the company, we didn’t stay in a briefing. We moved into a conversation. Peer to peer. I met him where he was and kept pace, and then some. I wasn’t nodding along. I was engaged, fluent, in it with him.

And somewhere in the middle of that conversation, he realized what was sitting across from him. Not a curiosity. Not a junior hire he could manage around. A peer. A highly capable one. Someone who could do his job, had done his job, and was about to do his job inside the company that was currently paying him to do it.

That scared the shit out of him.

I knew — maybe before he did — exactly how much of his work would quietly disappear the day I walked into that company full-time.

I thought the meeting went beautifully. I left New York excited. I flew home convinced the job was mine.

It wasn’t.

A few days later, the recruiters called me sounding like they’d seen a ghost. The position had been pulled. Not filled — pulled. They didn’t know what had happened. They kept saying we don’t know what happened. They apologized in the way people apologize when they’re embarrassed on your behalf.

I knew exactly what had happened.

That attorney had sat across from me in that conference room and done the math in real time.

If she comes in-house, my invoices shrink.

If she comes in-house, my access shrinks.

If she comes in-house, the thing I’ve been billing for quietly for years starts getting handled by someone on salary.

He didn’t see a qualified candidate. He saw his revenue walking out the door wearing my face.

So he closed the door.

I’m not going to pretend that didn’t sting. It did. I had flown to New York. I had been told the job was mine. I had already started imagining my life in that role.

But a man I’d met once, over the course of one meeting, had decided I was too much of a threat to his income to be allowed through the door.

The End?

Nope …

The position didn’t get filled by me. But it didn’t disappear. The company still needed someone. The work still needed to be done. The only thing that had changed was that I wouldn’t be doing it.

So I made a decision.

At the time, I was working alongside a woman — a colleague, a peer at the company we were both trying to leave. She was great and more than capable. She was ready for more, and the place we were in wasn’t going to give it to her. I knew it. She knew it. We’d talked about it.

She’d known all along that I was interviewing for the role; nothing about any of it was a secret.

So when it fell through, I told her what happened. No shame in it, no dressing it up.

But I didn’t stop there.

I told her to apply for the job.

Here’s the role. Here’s what they want. Here’s what they’re really asking when they ask it that way. Here’s what to say. Here’s what not to say. Here’s what might trip you up and here’s how to handle it.

I knew exactly what they were looking for because I had just sat across from them. I knew what the hiring manager cared about. I knew what the outside counsel would try to probe for. I knew which answers would land and which ones wouldn’t. I knew the language, the tempo, the shape of the whole thing. And I handed her the playbook.

She applied. She interviewed. She got the job!!!!!

And thirteen years and nine months later, I smiled as I watched her career bloom on my screen. She didn’t just stay where she landed — she grew there. She moved up. She’s now a manager. She has built something real inside those walls.

She built it.

Nobody gets credit for that but her.

What I did was open a door.

She walked through it.

She stayed.

She climbed.

That is her work, her name on it, her receipts.

But the door existed because I opened it.

I’m telling this story for one reason and it’s not the reason you might think.

It’s not to be celebrated. It’s not to be thanked. It’s not to claim a piece of something that belongs to her.

It’s because people meet me now — the books, the stages, the platforms, the rooms I build, the women I elevate — and they may assume the work of lifting other women is a recent chapter for me. A brand pivot. A market position. Something I figured out when it became profitable to care.

It isn’t.

It’s the whole book. It has always been the whole book.

I was doing this when nobody was watching. I was doing this when there was no platform to announce it on. I was doing this when it cost me — when the role that should’ve been mine went away and I turned around and instead of being salty, handed the playbook to someone else. I was doing this before “amplifying women” was a catchy phrase.

The moral of the story is this.

A man protected his revenue by closing a door on a qualified woman.

A woman took the key he wouldn’t give her, walked down the hall, and handed it to another woman who deserved it.

Thirteen years and nine months later, one of those decisions is still paying dividends.

It isn’t his.💃🏾

This is what I mean when I say “the rooms we build determine the wealth we circulate.”

I am not new to this work.

I am not learning it in public.

I am not performing it for an algorithm.

I have been doing this my whole career. Quietly. Without credit. Without announcement.

Because when one of us can’t walk through the door, the work is to make sure another one of us does.

That’s the story.

That’s always been the story.

There is another door I’m holding open right now. It’s called Octagon Haus — a private economic infrastructure for Black women experts who are ready to start circulating, compounding, and commanding their value. them.

What Corporations Are Quietly Or Not so Quietly Dealing With Right Now

Organizations are navigating:

Teams that are disengaged and Still Pitching Topics

“I speak on leadership.”
“I train on communication.”
“I coach on mindset.”

That’s where the disconnect is.

Because companies are not looking for a topic.

They are looking for someone who can step into what they are already dealing with and help them move through it.

The Shift That Changes Everything

When you understand trends like these, your job is not to repeat them.

Your job is to translate them into:

A problem you solve

A result you create

A reason to bring you in

That’s positioning.

And that’s what gets you paid.

What This Looks Like in Real Time

Let’s take what companies are facing and turn it into how you show up.

Managers Are Struggling to Lead

You don’t say:
“I speak on leadership.”

You say:
“I develop leaders who can lead in high-pressure, constantly changing environments—so your teams perform and environments where their top talent wants to stay, contribute, and grow.”

AI Is Creating Uncertainty

You don’t say:
“I talk about innovation.”

You say:
“I equip your teams to think, communicate, and lead in an AI-driven workplace so they stay relevant and effective.”

Culture Feels Disconnected

You don’t say:
“I teach communication.”

You say:
“I help your teams communicate and collaborate across roles, generations, and work environments—so work actually works again.”

This Is Where Most People Stay Stuck

They think their expertise is the differentiator.

It’s not.

There are thousands of people who can speak on leadership, communication, or mindset.

What separates you is:

How clearly you define the problem

How directly you connect to what companies are experiencing right now

How confidently you articulate the result

<p class="button-wrapper" the Asset

The report is public.

Anyone can quote it.

What they can’t do is speak from your:

Experience

Pattern recognition

Point of Twice

Because this is where the shift happens.

You stop asking:

“What should I speak about?”

And you start answering:

“What are organizations already trying to solve that I am uniquely positioned to address?”

You must learn to speak “bottom line language.”

This Is the Type of Intelligence We Operate From Inside Octagon Haus

Not just to refine how you position your expertise, but to expand how you see, access, and move within the market.

Because when you understand what organizations are navigating at this level, you don’t just show up differently.

You build differently.
You pitch differently.
You operate like a business that belongs in the room.

Octagon Haus is designed for women who are building businesses around their expertise and stymied in a lower-level position than recognize your brilliance.

This is exactly why so many of us are making an "Intellectual Exodus," deciding that we will never again put someone else’s dream and legacy above our own.

But here’s where the story gets real: even though Black women are the most highly educated group of entrepreneurs, with over 86% holding a college degree, our bank accounts aren't yet reflecting that expertise.

In 2023, the average revenue for Black women-owned businesses was just $47,300 - an increase from 2019 at $24,000 - but still lower than the average of all women-owned businesses.
<p class="button-wrapper" revenue disparity of any minority group—and it isn't because we lack the "chops" or ambition to succeed.

It is because we have been forced to become masters of the "sidepreneur" hustle, often spending less than 40 hours a week on our ventures while balancing other responsibilities or using our day jobs to fund our dreams.

While we are leading the charge and opening new businesses at a faster rate than any other demographic, we are often doing it entirely on our own.

We self-fund our startups 61% of the time because traditional banks reject our applications at three times the rate of white owners. This lack of initial capital means we often start smaller and stay in lower-margin industries just to survive, rather than being given the space to scale our intellectual property.

It is time to call this what it is: an unprecedented undervaluation of Black intellectual capital. We are not just "hobbyists"; we are expertpreneurs who are often seen as "lesser" by an ecosystem that wasn't built for us.

When we finally bridge this gap and achieve revenue parity with men, we aren't just helping ourselves—we are unlocking a $1.5 trillion boost to the entire U.S. economy. speaking engagements can be incredibly rewarding, but there are common pitfalls that can stall your progress, no matter how talented or experienced you are.

Whether you’re eager to land your first big contract or looking to scale your existing business, steering clear of these errors will put you miles ahead of the competition.

Here are three mistakes you must avoid and strategies for what to do instead.

Subscribe now

Mistake 1: Random Networking

Why it’s a problem:
Connecting with anyone and everyone in hopes of stumbling into opportunities leads to wasted effort, frustration, and very few results. Without a clear sense of who you’re trying to reach and where they make decisions, you’re just spinning your wheels.

How to avoid it:
Get laser-focused on your Dream 100—the decision-makers and referral partners most likely to need your expertise. Intentional, strategic targeting is far more productive than casting a wide net.

Mistake 2: Immediate Pitching

Why it’s a problem:
Jumping straight from connection to sales pitch can be a huge turn-off. Corporate buyers want to work with those they know, like, and trust, not people who launch into a pitch without building any rapport.

How to avoid it:
Spend time cultivating the relationship before pitching. Engage meaningfully. Show up regularly and add value so, when you do make your ask, it feels like the next logical step, not an intrusion.

Mistake 3: Single Opportunity Obsession

Why it’s a problem:
Falling in love with a single hot lead—or a handful—and neglecting to keep your outreach and pipeline strong is risky. Deals fall through, timelines stretch, and if you have all your eggs in one basket, your revenue suffers.

How to avoid it:
Adopt a consistent outreach routine. Make connecting, cultivating, and pitching part of your weekly workflow. This way, a “no” or a stalled deal won’t throw off your momentum or business goals.

Subscribe now

Stay focused, be patient with your relationship-building, and always keep your pipeline moving. And she was never alone.

There were days she cried. Days she was exhausted. Days the doubt crept in and whispered that maybe this was a mistake.

But she kept rowing.

Not because she had some reserves of strength the rest of us don’t have.

Because she had infrastructure that was stronger than her fear.

Because she had people who believed in her capacity even when she couldn’t feel it herself.

Because she had systems that worked even when she was too tired to think clearly.

You’re Already in the Ocean

Here’s what I keep coming back to as I watch your businesses, your launches, your pivots, your exhaustion:

You’re already rowing.

You left the shore when you started your business. Technology 🙄

When it comes to building a successful expertise-based business, many professionals find themselves tangled in the misconception that branding and positioning are one and the same. In reality, positioning is the essential foundation upon which branding is built—and without it, your efforts may never yield the results (or revenue) you desire.

As a retired trial attorney turned award-winning speaker and strategic advisor, I’ve worked with countless highly-credentialed women transitioning out of corporate life into entrepreneurship. Time and again, the same issue arises: they confuse the outward visuals of branding (colors, logos, fonts) with the deep, internal strategy of positioning.

In the video above, I break down the eight key layers of positioning, and explore why getting these right is non-negotiable for Expertpreneurs™️- those who make money with their mind.

Subscribe now

Key Insights

1. Branding Follows Positioning, Not the Other Way Around

Many are tempted to jump straight into the visual side of branding. But true branding is the outward expression of your positioning. It should flow from a clear understanding of your unique value, audience, and goals. Start by architecting your positioning, then let your brand’s visuals emerge organically from that solid foundation.

2. The 8 Layers of Positioning: A Structured Framework

Think of positioning as peeling back the layers of an onion to uncover your authentic business core. Watch the video to learn about each layer. Don’t miss layers 7 and 8.

3. Depth Over Generalization

Resist the urge to be a generalist. The most impactful Expertpreneurs™️go deep, serving only the audiences and solving only the problems for which they have unmatched expertise and genuine passion. This leads to market differentiation and stronger demand.

4. Profit Lies in the ‘Why’

Money doesn’t come just from being good at what you do. It comes from connecting your deep-rooted reason for serving with your audience’s real-world needs. Your personal “why” fuels your persistence and credibility, but your audience’s “why” is where they commit financially.

5. Transformation Requires Action, Not Just Knowledge

Understanding these layers is a crucial first step, but true transformation comes from doing the work to answer each question thoughtfully and honestly. It’s this clarity and alignment that will set you up to command premium rates, close lucrative corporate contracts, and sustain long-term business success.

Ready to Level Up Your Positioning?

If you’re ready to turn your expertise into profit and finally stop spinning your wheels, it’s time to dive deep into your positioning. This issue goes far deeper than systemic barriers. The call for change echoes from within: undervaluing your expertise leads to complicity in your own financial erasure.

And one of the ways you unconsciously undervalue is using your corporate salary as a benchmark. (PS and BTW - I discuss this and more in my Stop Undervaluing, Start Profiting Masterclass.)

But here’s the uncomfortable truth:

pricing your expertise based on hours worked or corporate salary benchmarks is sabotaging your profits and your power.

Most women experts, especially those leaving corporate, fall into the trap of treating their time like a commodity. But in the entrepreneurial world, time isn’t what companies are actually buying. They’re investing in results, transformation, and bottom-line impact.

Think about it: organizations don’t spend thousands on external experts because they want a one-hour training. They put real money on the table when they believe you can help them solve high-cost problems, accelerate their results, or prevent expensive mistakes.

If your price tag feels shockingly high compared to your old “salary math,” good. Anything less means you’re treating your expertise like a commodity, not the transformational asset it truly is.

Subscribe now

Here’s how to break this cycle and price like a profit centered expert:

✨ Start with the profit you want. Reverse-engineer your revenue goal—not from “how much do I want to make” but “what does it cost to run my business and life, and what profit margin do I require?”

✨ Anchor your offers in the impact you deliver. Identify the headaches, costs, and risks your work helps alleviate for decision-makers, not just your credentials or time investment.

✨ Ditch the guilt and comparison pricing. What someone else charges is irrelevant. What matters? What your unique expertise is worth to your ideal buyer.

The shift isn’t just financial. It’s psychological.

When you move from “I charge for my time” to “I price for the transformation I create,” you position yourself as a must-have strategic investment, not a line item to be negotiated down.

Ready to flip your pricing model and profit on your terms?

Click here and I’ll send you the replay of my Stop Undervaluing, Start Profiting masterclass.

Prefer to attend the masterclass live? Register here for the next one.

About the Author:

Kelly Charles-Collins is Founder of Speaker Moguls and the creator of Speaking Industry Xpo a/k/a THE 6. She teaches speakers, trainers, coaches, and consultants to turn their expertise into an enterprise—without underpricing or undervaluing their work. Taking place in Atlanta from March 16-18, 2026, this event is more than a conference; it’s a driving force to bridge the revenue gap for women business owners and build profitable, mature enterprises.

Here’s why this event, and partnership with its movement, is a must for those seeking meaningful impact and access to an elite audience.

THE 6 is bringing together at least 100 accomplished women, most with advanced degrees and extensive experience spanning industries like banking, finance, legal, healthcare, education, and more. These Expertpreneurs™️aren’t just speakers or trainers. They’re highly visible leaders who use their expertise to drive economic growth.

Why THE 6 Matters

Women experts—those who leverage advanced degrees, professional credentials, and years of experience—face a significant economic disparity.

Black women, in particular, start businesses at the highest rate of any demographic, but fewer than 3% sustain beyond five years. The average revenue for Black women-owned businesses hovers around $47,300, compared to $192,600 for all women-owned businesses.

Closing these gaps stands to add billions to the U.S. economy: $361.2 billion if Black women matched the average revenue of white women, and up to $1.5 trillion if they hit parity with men-owned businesses.

THE 6 aims to amplify, affirm, and elevate the voices and businesses of women experts through resources, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. Participants hail from fields like banking, finance, legal, healthcare, education, television, and hospitality, equipped with MBAs, PhDs, JDs, and certifications.

What Happens at THE 6

Over two or three days, attendees will engage in sessions focused on business strategy, a speaker showcase, and an expo hall offering direct access to brands committed to supporting accomplished women. Sponsors already onboard include HighLevel, Verizon Business, and Wynter Law Practice, recognizing the value and opportunity present.

Why Partner?

Sponsors and partners play a pivotal role in providing women experts with the resources, relationships, and social capital needed to thrive.

Partnership transcends a transactional relationship. Unlike fleeting digital campaigns, THE 6 allows brands three days of immersive, face-to-face engagement with highly credentialed, value-driven women who are known to invest in excellence. It was about transformation, reclaiming identity, and creating impact well beyond the walls of her profession.

Like many Black women professionals, Sharonda found herself at the crossroads after years in a high-pressure healthcare career, post-pandemic. She realized she was “tapped out,” craving a greater reach and deeper purpose than the daily grind offered. The journey began with admitting she was ready for something new, and opening her mind to fresh possibilities.

Subscribe now

Takeaway #1: Growth Starts With Openness

When Sharonda allowed herself to seek new avenues, she discovered inspiring entrepreneurs who looked like her and were thriving in their own lanes. These relationships didn’t just spark ideas; they built confidence to speak up and seek more.

Sharonda’s voice—once called “motor mouth” by teachers—became her superpower. Working with Kelly, she learned it was okay to own her uniqueness. Her moniker “Sista RN” wasn’t something to hide, but a banner to wave. If a room couldn’t accept Sista RN, it wasn’t her room and this mindset became a springboard.

Takeaway #2: Authenticity Is a Gateway, Not a Barrier

Sharonda’s story revealed that owning the fullness of her identity unlocked the right opportunities. “If you can’t accept Sister RN, then you don’t deserve my brain,” she declared. Genuine self-branding let her walk into rooms as herself, not as someone she felt pressured to be.

The pivotal shift happened through developing her signature talk with Kelly. It was more than a speech. It was a strategic, repeatable framework that allowed her to scale her impact and income. Her expertise became both her currency and her contribution, landing her stages in Dubai, Paris, and funding opportunities, all rooted in the methodology she crafted.

Takeaway #3: Your Expertise Is Exportable—With the Right Structure

Sharonda leveraged the her framework not just to speak but to build programs, secure grants, launch nonprofits, and consult. Rather than a one-time use, her framework gave her a toolkit to address pressing industry gaps, like “unauthorized arrivals” in emergency care—a concept she named, published, and has begun championing.

Throughout her journey, clarity and validation from Kelly and the expert community fueled Sharonda’s evolution. She moved from validating her value to standing in it, realizing her intellectual property was her most valuable asset.

Subscribe now

Takeaway #4: Iterate, Don’t Pivot—and Own Your Intellectual Property

Every stage of Sharonda’s journey layered on the last. She didn’t abandon old skills, but reimagined how they served her new direction—as a legal nurse consultant, a mentor, a speaker, and now a licensed agent offering financial education. The process taught her not just to dream, but to execute.

And perhaps the biggest lesson? Proximity is power.

Sharonda literally found her next level in rooms—and in the company—of Black women experts who saw her, affirmed her, and challenged her to step up. The collective energy wasn’t just inspiring; it was transformative.

Sharonda’s Journey in a Nutshell:

Be open to new beginnings.

Bring your real self everywhere you go.

Build frameworks to scale your impact.

Iterate, don’t pivot. Your past experience is an asset.

Value the power of community and accountability.

Her story is a blueprint for any expert—particularly Black women—looking to go from employee to expertpreneur, rewrite the narrative, and profit from their unique genius.

Watch the video to hear directly from Sharonda. You will be activated.

Ready to turn your expertise into an enterprise?

👉 Register for the FREE masterclass “Stop Undervaluing, Start Profiting” (January 15th):

👉 Be IN the room for the Speaking Industry Xpo (“THE 6”)—Atlanta, March 16th-18th:

Don’t wait for someone else to open doors for you. AI helps me find the actual point underneath the point. (ChatGPT & Claude)

4) I use AI to turn a “messy idea” into a clean positioning angle.
Not a slogan. A clear lane people can repeat. That’s when your marketing gets easier. (Mogul Operating System “MOS”)

5) I use AI to map the decision-maker lens.
What does a buyer care about? It demands a system that’s both strategic and intuitive, enabling you to package your expertise, connect with your audience, and monetize your knowledge efficiently. That’s where AI-powered solutions are stepping in as complete game changers.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by branding, content creation, or marketing (not to mention pricing your offers!), you’re not alone. But imagine a system that seamlessly guides you through every step, from clarifying your positioning to launching a successful campaign. Here’s how an AI-driven mogul operating system can transform your expert business.

You can catch the full 4 part series here.

1. Position, Package, and Price with Confidence

Consistent five and six-figure contracts begin with clarity. The right system helps you define a one-liner, value proposition, and target audience—streamlining your expertise into a powerful positioning statement. When you know what you offer and who needs it, you attract ideal clients and command premium pricing.

2. Turn Your Expertise into Consistent Content

Many women experts hesitate to show up online because creating content feels daunting. With AI tools, you’re not guessing what to post—your expert pillars, themes, and a customized content calendar are developed for you. This erases overwhelm and keeps your messaging clear and consistent, so you show up as a thought leader, not just a content creator.

Subscribe now

3. Strategic Marketing Outpaces Random Posting

Great content is only half the battle. Without a roadmap, your efforts can scatter. The must-have AI system builds a 90-day marketing plan tied directly to your content strategy, ensuring every post serves your larger business objectives, whether it’s lead generation, engagement, or conversions.

4. Launch Campaigns with Precision

One-off webinars, live events, and challenges become high-impact campaigns instead of one-time efforts. Yet, when stepping into entrepreneurship, it’s common to struggle with recognizing, claiming, and confidently communicating that same value.

The real disruption begins within.

Five Key Strategies for Black Women Experts

1. Know Your Expertise—and Stand In It

You don’t need more degrees or certifications to justify your value. Years managing teams, budgets, and complex projects in corporate spaces have already proven your capabilities. What’s essential now is recognizing your expertise as an asset class—a source of economic power that is just as valuable, if not more so, outside the corporate environment.

2. Shift From Activities to Outcomes

Entrepreneurial clients and partners aren’t interested in a list of responsibilities. They want results. Package your experience into outcome-driven offers that address real problems and deliver measurable transformation. Instead of presenting disconnected services, master the art of creating a suite of premium, solution-based offers that reflect your full value.

Subscribe now

3. Price and Position Yourself Properly

Underpricing is a silent epidemic for women experts. While systemic undervaluation is real, internalized beliefs often hold us back just as much. Use real data and market validation to set confident rates and avoid negotiating against yourself. Your compensation should match your expertise, and every client engagement should reflect that.

4. Build Social Capital Through Genuine Collaboration

Economic power doesn’t only come from what you know—it comes from who knows about it. Many Black women entrepreneurs lack the “insider” access that fuels rapid growth in other communities. Change this by intentionally building networks with like-minded experts. Collaborate, refer, amplify, and create joint ventures. Leverage each other’s credibility to accelerate growth and impact.

Get in the Right Room

5. Invest in Systems and Automation

Treat your business like a business, not a side hustle or a solo job. Setting up technology, automation, and scalable systems is not just efficient—it’s essential. Streamline backend processes, delegate where you can, and use tools such as AI to extend your reach and capabilities. A sustainable operation makes it easier to focus on high-value activities and grow your revenue.

The Challenge—and The Opportunity

Success as a Black woman expert is about both mindset and method. Disrupting old patterns means refusing to accept exploitation or undervaluing your own brilliance. When you build a business on self-worth, community, and smart systems, you create an economy for yourself and those around you.

Ready to Elevate Your Business?

If you’re a Black woman expert seeking to elevate your voice, amplify your impact, and position yourself for greater profit, discover how THE 6 can help you build your social capital, leverage technology, and step into true leadership. Take action today—share your expertise, collaborate intentionally, and price your services at the level you deserve.

<a class="image-link image2 Making your numbers work for you—deliberately, predictably.

Put Your Math Where Your Ambition Is

Success starts with a clear revenue goal.

Want $100K in the next 90 days? Set it as your target, then let the math drive your plan. Reverse-engineering this target transforms it into tangible, trackable milestones:

How many clients does it require?
Break down your target by program price, payment plans, and client mix.

What’s your payment split?
Calculate proportions between pay-in-full clients and those on monthly options. Each choice affects cashflow and overall numbers.

What’s your average client value?
Understand what each client is worth, depending on their payment method.

And most importantly:
Pinpoint how many new qualified leads you must attract each week. Use real conversion rates for clarity. Likes, followers, and comments are vanity metrics. Leads matter.

Subscribe now

Unpack the Numbers: From Leads to Revenue

Say you need 13 clients to hit $100K in 90 days. If your conversion rate from sales calls to sign-up is 25%, that means you need at least 52 sales calls.

Working backwards, figure you’ll need around 1,800 new leads over three months.

That’s 150 qualified leads every week who might actually convert. Not just people filling up your notifications.

This math isn’t meant to overwhelm. It’s your compass for growth.

When you know your precise numbers, you can obsess less over “posting more” and start making every marketing activity intentional.

Treat Your Revenue Roadmap Like a Living Blueprint

The real secret: Track your actual results and adjust monthly.

Reverse engineering is powerful, but only if you monitor lead flow, conversion rates, and cash collected throughout the quarter.

Treat your revenue plan like a living document. Test new campaigns, refine your lead sources, and re-calculate your targets as you grow.

Map it out: Set weekly, monthly, and 90-day goals.

Monitor it: Use check-ins to track progress.

Adjust: Tweak messaging, strategies, or offers depending on what the numbers show.

Subscribe now

Are You Ready to Operate Like a True CEO?

Ask yourself:

Do you know exactly how many leads you need next week to stay on track?

Are you tracking real conversions, or just throwing out content and crossing your fingers?

Will you commit to reviewing and refining your revenue plan as your business grows?

Growth isn’t built on hope.
